Your mission at Safened

Make our KYC team(s) successful and happy, while growing the teams at the same time! And we think we have some great markers here for you to strive for:

Team growth and maintaining talent

  • Grow the team with great colleagues

  • Manage competing priorities

  • Coaching and mentoring individual contributors

  • Establish and enhance the engineering discipline in the team

  • Maintain a good balance between start-up mentality with rapid iteration and maturity of product features.

Product roadmap

  • Work with product and design to define the product roadmap

  • Guide decisions on architecture and technical strategy

  • Create & enhance development processes to ensure the quality of products and code

  • Bring predictable success to the team’s overall performance and delivery

  • Help define and enforce high quality standards and measurement

  • Work with other engineering teams to understand and improve their productivity in.

Tech Management

  • Shape a great engineering culture together with Ralph (our CTO)

  • Contribute to engineering- wide initiatives as part of the Technology management team

  • Take on broader responsibilities when needed

  • Represent Safened and the team in events and meetups (maybe organized by us?) when you see fit.


You bring

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience

  • 8+ years of progressive software engineering career path

  • 5+ years of experience in managing 5-10 direct reports

  • Strong Design and Architecture exposure in building large scale internet applications

  • Strong People Management skills leading mid-size teams in a Product Development environment

  • Ability to motivate other team members, and thrive in a dynamic and challenging work environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (in English and Dutch/Spanish as a bonus)

  • Strong knowledge on development practices (preferred C#/.Net, Angular - but actively using them is not required for this role)

  • Experience with agile development methodologies and lean startup product iteration techniques

  • If you have experience in transforming development teams to the Spotify model that would be great!

For this role we will not hire outside of the EU and preferably hire a person that lives in Amsterdam (or surroundings) already. Also we prefer a person that worked in the Netherlands as well.
